CIO....sleep training a toddler

Flippin' SUCKS!! The first time we did CIO for Colton, he was sleeping without protest for naps and night time within 3 days. He cried the first day for the full 60 minutes. The next nap was down to 35 minutes and by that night, we were at 5 minutes of crying before he was fast asleep. Miraculously, he never fought us when we put him down to sleep from then on out. That is, until 2+ months ago. All of a sudden, he didn't want to go to bed at all. His bedtime kept getting pushed back until it was so late, I felt like a bad momma. Then, he started screaming like a banshee at the top of his lungs. It's so loud that you can hear no matter where you are in the house. I even turn his monitor off because I'd hate for anyone on our block to get accidental interference on their monitor and think we're beating him!! Plus, I have two little girls to worry about.

To avoid the screaming, we started laying on the floor next to him. Killer backache by the time he falls asleep (which btw, is anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour). To top it all off, he started waking in the middle of the night. No biggie except he starts the wild banshee screaming. Not a fun way to wake up! We couldn't have him waking up the girls, so we just brought him into our bed. BAD habit and Momma's done with it. So, today was day 1 of CIO for a 2 year old. He screeched (and jumped up and down!) in his crib for 80 minutes. I waited 30 minutes after the last peep before I checked on him. This is what I found......look at the wet curls in the back from his protest workout. Please let this pass quickly.
