I gave my husband a bunch of crap about how messy he was when feeding the girls their baby food. I thought he purposely put food all over their faces, let it drip on their bibs, etc. I mean, come on....how hard can it be to put a spoonful of food in their mouth? Apparently, my momnesia is to blame. I have gobs of pictures of Colton with food all over his face, in his hair, on the high chair, and even splatters on the floor. How could I have forgotten that? Well, the girls taught me a thing or two today. Sweet potatoes + my babies = mess. Period.

The day after Valentine's Day
when you're on a diet is almost as bad as the weeks leading up to Christmas. You know, when everyone brings in special desserts and tons of sweets and leaves them on the tables at work so they're free for all. Or worse yet, they hand them directly to you! Isn't it odd how when you're hungry, there is nothing to be found. But go on a diet and there is yummy stuff overflowing. What is up with that?? Everytime you walk by you see them sitting there, calling your name, beckoning you to come hither. You get a whiff of the succulent scent of chocolate. You think, just one little piece won't be so bad. But one little piece is bad because that one little piece turns into a few pieces and then occasional snacking throughout the night and the next thing you know it's morning and the candy is all gone. And you ate it. Diet blown for crap.I didn't eat it this year. I just took pictures of it. Enjoyed the smells and went on my merry way.

It's really just more laundry

Feeding time has become a major chore around these parts. We have found that the girls do not like anything green. No green beans, no peas, no mixed veggies. Blech! The complete opposite of Colton. They give us funny faces, pretend to gag, and turn the heads in all kinds of awkward positions. Now applesauce, pears, bananas, and sweet potatoes? No problems....gobble, gobble. Because we're using the bumbos as faux highchairs, they are quite wiggly and we get food all over their faces, their hands, their bibs, and sometimes even their clothes. I should point out that Daddy is doing the feeding in these pictures. I'm not quite this messy. :) What's this all mean? Yeah, just more laundry in mommy's book.

What's the secret....?

to fabulous tasting shrimp cocktail? In my opinion, Red Lobster has it down. What in the world do they do to their shrimp cocktail to make it so fresh and nummy? And why in the world do they have to charge $7.75 for 6 stinkin' shrimp? If anyone out there knows the secret, PLEASE let me know!
At the grocery today, I walked past the bagged shrimp. Now previous experience has told me that I cannot make shrimp cocktail. I have tried numerous times. I honestly have followed the directions on the back of the bag. There's no science in running cold water on shrimp for 5-7 minutes and then letting them drain for 3 minutes. I can do that.
Shrimp cocktail sounded good and even better, it was on sale. Trust me, I looked....it wasn't expired which is a good possibility when you're talking about Wal-mart. So, I grabbed a bag. While everyone slept, I opened my bag of shrimp and followed the 2 easy-peasy steps in thawing shrimp. I even took extra care and thought about presentation. I'm worth it, right?
Well, it looked "okay". Not stellar, but edible. I snapped my picture and brought my cocktail into the dining room. It took only one bite, but it was enough. I might as well have been chewing on someone's dirty underwear. Blech, blech, blech!!! Fishy, rubbery, freezer-burnt nasty, and enough to make me wanna vomit. They instantly went into the trash. That was a total waste of money and time.
It's really too bad. Now I have a hankerin' for some good shrimp cocktail. I guess I better call Red Lobster on my way to work.

Whatever trips your trigger

Nothing can prepare you for having 3 kids under the age of two. Nothing. No matter how much you want it, no matter how hard you fight for it, no matter what you would give up to have them. Nothing. I love being a mom and I feel very blessed to have my three little munchkins. But let me say it again, nothing can prepare you for having 3 kids under the age of two. Taking a shower, doing my hair and makeup, and getting dressed are three things that no longer occur on the same day. My wardrobe has widdled down to yoga pants and t-shirts, completed only by the mommy ponytail. My name isn't even Lynne, anymore. It's Momma. I do not aspire to clean house, I simply maintain. A fact my husband really hates. My daily goals include getting all the kids to nap at the same time so I can watch Y&R in peace and getting to bed at a reasonable hour. Goals are not always accomplishments. Most days, I keep up with them and as long as everyone's alive and well by the end of the day, I consider it a success. However, there are some days that I know I make it through only by the grace of God. And drinking lots and lots of coffee.

Slip in time

In April 2006, my husband and I spent two weeks roaming the streets of Paris, France. We rented an apartment in the 7th arrondissement, grabbed a map of the metro, and took off exploring the wonders of French museums, churches, culture, food, and drink. Among those new experiences was, of course, the wine. Neither Scott nor I were very big wine drinkers. We had no idea which wine went with what meat. We had no clue what good wine should even taste like. I had hoped it was similar to a wine cooler, but no such luck! :)

As luck would have it, the man from which we rented the apartment was from the USA. He and his wife had moved to a small village on the outskirts of Paris. He purchased an apartment in the city so that his children could visit them without staying with them. Smart man, I tell ya. When we went to the apartment, inside the refridgerator were three bottles of wine: white, blush, and red.
He proceded to open the bottles, pour each of us three glasses, and explain how we should smell it, swish it in our wine goblet, and savor the taste by sipping. He went into great detail of the types of grapes and other organic substances that went into the wine to make it have the deep color or rich flavor. He told us of vineyards to visit and which winery was nearby. He even informed us of the correct meats to pair with each wine and how it enhances the flavor of your food. He went on and on about the wonderful world of wine. It was quite amazing.
I can't honestly say that I remember much of that conversation. The three of us drank three bottles of wine in about 20 minutes so by the time he was done talking, I was a bit sloshed. But I hold that memory close to my heart and I cherish that time I spent with my husband. Every time I have a sip of wine (which isn't very often), I think of that time. I slip back into that memory and smile.

Happy New Year!

Hi! My name is Lynne and this is my first blog. I'm a SAHM during the week for my three little ones. My son, Colton, is 22 months old. My twin daughters, Keira and Carly, are 5 1/2 months old. On the weekends, I work as a nurse. It's my "me" time where I get to have adult interaction and actually get paid to work. :)
My New Year's resolution is to learn how to use my camera (Canon Rebel XTi). To keep me in check, I've decided to start a 365 photo blog. My children will most likely be my subjects, but on the off chance that they are not cooperative (hahahaa), I'll post pictures of anything I find interesting that day.
Thanks for checking out my photo blog. I hope to learn by leaps and bounds so I can document my children as they grow up.
The top picture is my son, Colton. He's quite the daredevil and into everything. It's very rare that I can get him to look at me when I'm taking pictures. He just has too many things he'd rather be doing. Who wants to look at Mom??
The second picture is my daughter, Keira. She's older by two minutes. I'm sure I'm gonna hear that about 1000 times when they're older. She's my smiley baby and a lot like me. It doesn't take much to get her going, she'll talk up a storm. Her bubbly personality is contagious.
The third picture is my daughter, Carly. She's the polar opposite of her sister. She's my mellow baby and takes after Daddy. She's very content to people watch and will often take the back seat to feeding, changing, one-on-one time since Keira is much more demanding. It's hard to believe they're identical.
So, that's my introduction to my children. I hope to see the pictures get better and better as times goes on.

Here are my first photos for my New Year's resolution. I admit, the quality is bad but I had a rough time with the kids today so I was just happy that I picked up the camera. Terrible to say that on day one, isn't it?My husband and I decided to offer oatmeal cereal to the girls today for the very first time. I got a lot of pictures of "scrunched up" faces. They were okay with the texture, but were not impressed with the taste. I don't blame 'em.
I did find it amusing that they held hands the entire time they ate. I'm sure they were scared when we came out them with spoons. :)
