Obsessive behavior

Carly is obsessed with standing up. She wants to stand constantly...next to the couch, the table, holding my fingers, etc. It doesn't matter who or what as long as she's standing. In fact, if you try to distract her by sitting her next to her with her brother or sister, two minutes will pass and then she is whining to be stood up. She's completely and utterly obsessed with this new trick. So much so that the first thing she tried to do in the bathtub was stand up. All I can do is shake my head, watch closely, and be ready to jump in and save her when she goes tumbling. And pray that she doesn't take Keira with her. Thank God Keira isn't in the same mind set. Yet. Oy.

Time-saving trick....we think

Now that the girls are sitting up well without assistance, we've decided to plunge into co-bathing to save some time before night-night. The girls do well playing with each other, but add Colton into the mix and you've got a recipe for water-logged parents. Their favorite bath toy is the blue bowl we got at the hospital when Colton was born. He always put it on his head. Since his head has grown, it no longer fits. So where to put it? Well, on sissy's head, of course! They don't mind, in fact, they fight over it.

Taking a bird bath

Whenever I'm running late for work or I'm just running errands, I'll wash the most important parts in the sink. For years, I've affectionately called this "taking a bird bath". While I was getting the bath water ready for the girls tonight, I glanced over at the sink and wondered if giving them a bird bath would save my back. It's a big pain in the butt to lean over the tub to keep them upright and out of the water while washing them. I decided tonight it was bird bath night. I ran the water and sat them in the sink. My little chubawubs just barely fit. And just so you know....no, it didn't save my back. I still had to hunch over to keep them sitting up all the while keeping them from falling on the faucet. They were fascinated with it. Plus, they were slipping and sliding all over the rounded sink bottom. When we were all done, I leaned them back for a little faux jacuzzi time. Doesn't she look relaxed? Mommy is jealous. :)

Rub a dub dub, three babies in the tub...

and 16 foam letters, 4 rubber duckies, 3 washcloths, 3 goldfish, 2 toy ambulances, 2 parents, 1 grandparent, and a camera. Makes for a very crowded bathroom. :) To be honest, they weren't all in the tub at the same time. It's more like an assembly line. Colton gets his bath and then plays. In goes baby #2, gets her bath, and then plays. Off she goes with the Pajama Fairy for a baby massage, diaper, medicine, song, and bottle while baby #3 gets in, gets her bath, and then plays. Then it's her turn with the Pajama Fairy while the Pajama Man (Scott refuses to be called a Fairy LOL) gets Colton. It's a well organized system and it ends up with three clean kids and two water-logged and tired parents. Who could ask for anything more?

Anyway, here's Carly in the tub.

She loves laughing at Colton.

Here's Colton. Notice that lovely lip? He split it open today on my knee. He didn't even cry. What a brute.

Here's Keira. She's fascinated by water dripping off the washcloth.

Keira chillin' while Colton plays with his ambulance.

Figaro figaro

My son has always loved bath time. He would play forever and actually cry when it was time to get out. It's a bedtime routine that I have enjoyed for over a year. Just recently, he has discovered that showers are quite fun as well. While he's catching water in his mouth, I love how this shot looks like he's singing in the shower. And quite dramatically. My future opera singer.

This time of year, poinsettas are the flower of choice. Because we were married in December, they were used as decoration in the church where we exchanged our vows. I noticed today that they are scattered throughout the units at the hospital. Some are quite pretty while others appear very neglected. During some down time, I took a moment to look a bit more closely at them.

My badge is the most important fashion accessory at work. I have to have it to get into the parking garage, the walkway, the stairwell, the elevator, the nursery, the medication room, even the linen closet. It tells the world that I belong here. I have the right to exist in this hospital. My last name is hidden to keep the crazies away. I keep a picture of my children on it so when anyone asks if I have children, I can whip out their pictures. It doesn't matter that the pictures are from when Colton turned 1 and when the girls were 7 weeks old. No one knows any better, except me. I really do need to update those pictures.
