Ohhhhhh, a Mr. Someone is gonna be a happy, happy man when his anniversary gift is presented to him. I’ve already been told that it’s going to be given to him the first day of their trip, but I worry it might make it to his hands before they even leave. Hehee.

Little miss thang gave me an assignment and with the help of hair stylist, Nicole Coy, and make-up artist, Jen Lastnamehere, we got to work on one of the most enjoyable boudoir sessions. Don’t even let anyone tell you that you’d be uncomfortable or nervous. Cuz honey, it’s just not true here. We have FUN! Almost too much fun! LOL

Last but not least, Colton. He’s at that age that he wants his picture taken just because he wants mommy’s attention. But he doesn’t REALLY want his picture taken so I end up with a bunch of cross-eyed, tongue sticking out, mouth skewed pictures. Very frustrating. The only thing I can count on is that inevitably he laughs at himself because he knows I’m getting frustrated and then I get that perfect smile. Stinkerbutt.

Oh, and one more of Carly. See how serious she is? My goodness, it’s kinda scary how much she’s like her father. I swear she does smile. A lot.

Time is getting away from me. I didn’t get to post a portrait of Carly or Colton yesterday so my goal today was to get at least one of them completed. So here’s Carly. She’s difficult to photograph because she has no interest in maintaining eye contact. Especially when the camera is in hand. Split second glances….that’s all I get. :)

I adore smash cake sessions. There is just something fun about the age, the ornery baby-toddler, the sneaky smiles, getting into EVERYTHING, and who can resist tearing into the cake? Umm, hello…I’ll have what she’s having, please. Today was little Miss Lilly’s birthday (how fun is that?!) and we had a great time playing with her hot pink and orange smash cake. She really tore into the icing. It looked like she had gloves on. Hehehee. She kept giving me this face of “Uh, eww…can you get this off my hands?” And don’t you just ADORE her piggy tails? Omigosh!

First day of spring { Dayton, OH Child Photographer }

Yep, it was the first day of spring 2011 and we went outside! It was in the 70’s….so stinkin’ nice. True, it was a bit windy, but made for some interesting hair shots. Hehee. The kids loved it and it felt good to get out. Although we had some melt downs over toys we hadn’t seen in months, for the most part it was all good. Here’s my baby Keira enjoying her day out. I’ll post more of the other kids tomorrow. I should be in bed….geesh! What’s wrong with me? Oh, I know….everyone’s sleeping and I can actually edit portraits in peace! Hehee.

Bridal Boudoir { Union, OH Boudoir Photographer }

Boudoir clients are usually hesitant of having their sexy pictures online. Understandable. I mean, come on…You have no idea what they’re going to look like and you’re in little to no clothing. It takes a lot of trust to blindly consent to online posting of your sexy pictures. So, it just tickles me to pieces when someone says “yes”! I think it makes me work harder to get them edited so I can show everyone! Hehee.

This little minx came to me all the way from Ft. Wayne, IN. You wanna talk about feeling honored? I’ve had quite a few from out of state this last month and I get all sappy, slap-happy that they travel all this way to see me!

I digress! This sexy thang is getting married in May. Her hubby-to-be will be receiving a rockin’ hot album of her sexiest pictures as his groom’s gift. All he is going to be able to say is “WOW!” : )

And I just have to do a shout out to my friend, Vilma, from GEM Photography is photographing her destination wedding. I know the pictures will be fantabulous!!

Twins: twice the work, twice the fun { Beavercreek, OH Child Photographer }

Any twin mother will tell you that twins are more than just twice the work. It’s probably closer to 10 times the work. I’ve often been told “I know what you’re going through, my kids are 15 months apart.” Without being snide, let me tell you that having children close in age is not the same as having multiples. Even Irish Twins are not the same.

I won’t go into details of how your belly is stretched beyond capacity or how many diapers you really go through or how 3 hours of straight sleep is a vacation because sometimes there is NO sleep between feedings. How big your biceps get from carrying both babies all the time to avoid the “he’s your favorite child” accusations or how you learn to ‘divide and conquer’ BY YOURSELF when they become mobile or how for the rest of your life you will hear “Are they twins? Wow, you’ve got your hands full.”

Nope, don’t wanna bore you with those nitty gritty details. However, I will share with you how much of a joy it is to experience twindom. Your twins have a built-in playmate and best friend. What could be better than that? Yes, it is a lot of work and I wouldn’t change it for the world. It truly is 10 times if not 100 times the fun. There’s so much to celebrate when it comes to twins, but the best way is to show you. Can you imagine triplets, quads, or more? Wow, lots of love and fun!

And I’m not talking dinner rolls. I’m talking big ol’ chunky baby rolls. The Michelin Man in miniature form. StaPuff Marshmallow man’s offspring. Scrumptious, healthy baby biscuits!! Oh my goodness, this little morsel is the epitome of gorgeous 6 month old baby rolls with a simply beautiful drooly smile. I photographed Abby when she was born and let me tell you, I coulda picked her out of a baby line-up. She looks exactly the same…with the addition of the baby rolls and a bit more hair, of course. :) So, here ya go! I hope you enjoy the preview!

Come on Spring! {Dayton, Ohio Child Photographer}

It has been so lovely around these parts lately. It’s terrible that I’ve had to waste few them actually working! I have been waiting patiently for it to warm up and take my kiddos outside for a photo shoot. Ok, ok…I’ve been dying to get out and use natural light. Studio light is fun, but natural light is da bomb!!!

This wasn’t the first day it was warm since the Ice Age episode a few weeks ago. But it was the first day that it was warm and I wasn’t working. So, we loaded up the truck and we moved to Beverly. Wait, no…that’s not right. : ) We loaded up the kids and headed downtown.

Each child was given a spot and I had a little one on one time with them. We haven’t done that since last fall. It was so much fun!! I have to tell you that I am simply lovin’ the age of my girls. They are so eager to pose and dress up and play with their hair. I can just imagine the pictures I’m gonna have this year! Now Colton, well….that’s another story. He was just cheesing it today.

My little man

Of course, it’s been hectic and busy and crazy here in the Bingham household. My dude turned 4 years old on Tuesday. We celebrated with a Spiderman cake (courtesy of yours truly!), bowling, and pizza (courtesy of Cousin Vinny’s). We nearly had tears when we discovered that our reservation for bowling party of 12 was “lost”. Yes, I’m talking about me. They were kind enough to let a little boy bowl 5 frames for free after I threatened to have a full-out throw-down temper tantrum. No pictures, of course, because it was league night. *rolls eyes*

Oh, let’s not forget the 2” ice storm that kept us housebound for almost a week. So fun. It’s still only in the ‘teens here. Brrrr! Add in treats for school, photo sessions, and Valentine’s Day and you’ve got one tired momma.

So, once it warms up, we’'ll get a proper 4 year old session. But for now, this quick snap of my little man on his way to school will just have to do. Don’t mind the messy bed-head. It’s what all the kids are wearing these days. :)

Oh, how I adore baby girls { Dayton, Ohio Newborn Photographer }

So many things to dress them up in, so little time. :) Little Miss E came to visit me yesterday. She was just 4 days old and itty bitty at almost 6 pounds when she left the hospital. Newborn sweetness at its finest. Mom and Dad were so cute…and so tired. As most first time parents are. I wish them an easy transition these first few months of life. I hope many loved ones offer help and support (and naps!!). Been there, done that moms and dads know where they are and cringe at the thought of sleep deprivation, late night playtimes, and paci dances. I personally miss it, but everyone knows I’m a little bit crazy. :)

So, let’s get to the point. Here’s a preview of baby E and our fun photo shoot. She was a true doll baby and I loved having her over. I hope Mom and Dad enjoy the pictures. Thanks again, guys!

I Heart Faces | Best Face Photo of 2010 Entry

I love playing along with I Heart Faces, although admittedly, it’s not nearly as often as I’d like. Three kids keep me on my toes and away from the PC. On rare occasions I’m able to peruse and take a minute or two to participate in their challenges. I’m happy to present my entry to the Best Face Photo of 2010. This was an awesome friend of mine whom I ~~suckered~~ talked into doing a Trash the Dress session.

We went a few places, played in some gorgeous light and then stumbled upon a river. I was so excited that I could barely explain what I wanted her to do. She looked at me like I was crazy when I told her I wanted her to get in the water with the dress on. I should also mention it was a cool September day and it was close to sunset. Yeah…it was cold water. My feet were frozen so I knew she was close to being a margarita on the rocks.

She sat in the water, posed, twisted, turned, posed again. Let me tell you, she did a fantastic job. And then I decided to go for broke. I asked her to dip her hair in the water, roll around, go underwater and come up….slowly, showing just her eyes. I knew it had to be an amazing shot or I could pretty much count this friendship as over. LOL I still can’t believe she did it. And I love the picture we captured. Meghan is amazing. I can’t thank her enough.

I’m always happy to have a willing participant. Especially those who listen and follow directions well. Ten year olds are typically perfect for that. There’s just something about a 2 or 3 year old that requires them to look away from the camera whenever it is pointed in their general direction. :) Maybe it’s just me.

So my niece, Kirsten came over for a holiday visit and I took that as an awesome opportunity for a photo shoot. Not to mention, we had fantabulous light and a Wii to occupy the kids! So here’s a sneak peek of the fun stuff.

Having a photography business that is run solely on word of mouth means I never really know what clients want from me. I know they want pictures taken to a high degree of certainty. Other than that, I have no idea what they were told and what they expect. Was the person who referred them to me honest about me and my bubbly personality? Did they overlook the urban and boudoir style I choose for 90% of my shoots? Were they told that feet are a pretty big deal for me and I like to shoot feet no matter who you are. I realize that I am just as responsible for meeting them half way and allow them to become more comfortable around me. I do, I do. I size you up and figure out your personality and how far I can push mine to get the desired affect: Great portraits. But ultimately, I’m still taking pictures of your feet whether you like it or not. :)

Well, let me tell you Mr. Man was not told that feet is a biggie for me. He was not prepared for a foot shot and needed to have an emergency pedicure prior to. :) He learned a few things about me today. I am bubbly, I like to have fun, I have different ideas of what is fun and looks great in a picture, squish is the best way to achieve that, and I like feet. I use all of these aspects in my photography whether in studio or outdoors. And I get that feet shot. Hehehe.

Onto the cutest family! Very photogenic and easily moldable into the models you’ll see here. Gorgeous!! And best of all, they were up for anything. My favorite clientel! :) Who wouldn’t want to be part of this family?

Thank you so much for coming you guys. I had such a great time playing in the studio. I was thrilled that our personalities matched and let us get a bit crazy.

Newborn Sweetness, Baby G { Dayton, Ohio Newborn Photographer }

I spent the morning with baby G and his gorgeous family yesterday. First of all, no woman should look this good 10 days postpartum. You would have NEVER guessed she had a baby. To say the least, it was disgusting and I’m not jealous at all. I had every intention of holding onto my baby weight for the last 3 years. I have been extremely successful in that endeavor. Yeah. :)

Anyway, I’ve missed doing baby sessions. Mr. G was so alert and didn’t want to miss a thing. I think babies know we’re waiting on them because any other time, they’re fast asleep and hard to wake up. Mr. G just wasn’t into that little thing we call sleep. It’s a good thing he’s super cute. :) Here’s a sneak peek of my favorites from the session.

And I had to share this picture. One of my favorite outtakes ever. Any newborn photographer can attest that with a newborn session, things can get a little messy. :) You just never know where the line of fire is. Thankfully, they don’t have aim at this time. Hehehe.

These little guys are getting bigger and a bit more aware of what’s going on. And right after naptime, not a whole is goin’ on. At least in the smile department. Hehee. I, of course, decided it was time to break out some props. Ornaments seemed harmless and fun. As did the cookies and a rocking chair. I forgot that there is no such thing as harmless when you’re 9 months old. :) Teething is a wonderful thing. And watching your children chew on anything is a great way to document this special time in their lives. Boys, I truly hope you enjoyed the glitter balls. And I hope Mommy wasn’t too upset about the ‘no smiles’. You get what they give you. Today was serious. And the need to gnaw. :) Enjoy the preview!

Family Session { Union, Ohio Family Photographer }

Sessions in the late autumn, early winter are very hard to do outside. The cold weather and short amount of great daylight limit you when you try to get those perfect family shots. It’s just the nature of the beast. Yes, I have a studio but I prefer on location shoots for families if I can make it happen. I’m willing to try it at least once, anyway.

The obstacles we have to overcome are many, but what’s wrong with a little challenge? It keeps you on your toes. Sunset is at 5:30pm-ish and who’s really off work and ready by that time? First thing in the morning offers great light so 8am it is. Too bad that cold temperatures get to ya really quick and before long we have runny noses and red cheeks. We don’t want the dreaded winter coats in the pictures so the only way to avoid that is to take them off and freeze for the moment. And don’t exhale….we don’t want the fog. Throw in a lil’ man who really doesn’t appreciate getting up early to run around outside without a coat to get pictures taken….and we’ve got the makings of a great family photo shoot. Hahaha!

It’s a good thing he’s cute. :) Take 2 will be coming up shortly but here’s a few I managed to capture before the meltdown.

O.M.G. Miss Ryleigh was a complete and utter joy. A breath of fresh air with a realization of why I got into photography. I thoroughly enjoyed the time her parents and grandma allowed me to hold, nuggle, play with, and pose her. Ryleigh and I got along fantabulously. We talked, we smiled, we played dress up, we ate, and we napped. Ok, ok, so I talked and smiled and dressed her up….and she ate and napped. But really….details aren’t that important. :) The best part of the day was she didn’t initiate me, just her dad. He was a great sport about it!

Breast Cancer Awareness Contest at I Heart Faces

This week’s theme at I Heart Faces is in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The requirements of the picture include a face and the color pink. The color pink, of course, brings the images of little girls to mind. My little girls aren’t quite so frilly and girly and playful and whatnot. However, I have had many opportunities to photograph the beautiful baby girls. This one in particular just strikes me as stunning. It’s one of my favorites of all time. I think the pink flower just makes the picture POP! You’re instantly like “Awwwww, what an adorable baby girl”. I love it!

Three little girls { Dayton, Ohio Family Photographer }

I love photographing twins! I think that having twins gives an advantage that most photographers don’t have. Experience. Personal experience from birth to age two. Been there, done that. So imagine how delighted I was to find out this family had twin girls that were about MY twin girls’ age. How fun!! They were so much fun and I think we got some pretty pictures. Thanks girls. I hope your mom and dad like the pictures!

Due to personal reasons, our photographer had to cancel our family session at the last minute. I prepped like a mad dog for this shoot for months. From hair accessories to shoes to coordinating (not matching) outfits for the entire family TIMES TWO! for months. I even had my hair done the day before with intentions of wrapping it up like they did in the ‘olden’ days so I wouldn’t have to attempt to make it look near as good as my hairdresser did. The amount of money and time I spent on this day is beyond belief. So when it was canceled, to say I was disappointed was an understatement. I decided to take matters into my own hands.

And that was a disaster. LOL If it could go wrong, it did. And then some. What was supposed to be a great family day turned into a nightmare of tears. Most of them were mine. Hehee. There’s a reason that photographers hire OTHER photographers to take their family portraits. As you’ll see, there are no pictures of us as a family. Just more pictures of my kids. And one of my unwilling husband. I have to drag him by the ears in order to get him to model for me. Geesh, what’s a woman gotta do to get a good picture of her family? :)

So, none of me even though I was prepared. Maybe next time.

Great mini session! This was before Mother Nature barged in on my other family. We had just enough light because the clouds hadn’t moved in yet. Add in some cute kids and great downtown venue and you’ve got yourself a recipe for awesomeness. I love urban shoots.

Family Mini’s { Springfield, Ohio Family Photographer }

After weeks and weeks of barely any precipitation, I had to schedule the family mini sessions on the day the thunder rolled. LOL Mother nature was in a foul mood today and ruined my plans. I watched the light nearly disappear while I waited for my second family to arrive. From bright and sunny to cold and dreary. I kid you not when I say the temperature dropped 21 degrees, the skies turned dark black, and the leaves flew out of the trees and were whipping in the wind. Those things hurt when they hit you! LOL It occurred in literally 5 minutes. So needless to say, you will be seeing this family again. We’ve rescheduled for Friday and I’ve got my fingers crossed that it’ll be a good day. In the meantime, I got a few to share ‘til Friday.

My babies’ school pictures { Union, Ohio Child Photographer }

Yesterday, I previewed Colton’s first school picture. Yes, I know he’s in preschool….please don’t give me any grief. I give myself enough. :) Like almost everyone else, I was suckered into buying his “first school picture”. Ugh! I could kick myself!! It wasn’t even a good picture, but I kept hearing my husband say “This is his first school picture. He’ll never have that again. If you don’t buy it now, you’ll never be able to again and you’ll hate yourself.” Trust me, I hate myself. I spent a buttload of money for a crappy 8x10 that isn’t even cut straight!!!

I’d show it to you but that would be against copyright laws. Every photographer and their work should be respected. Please don’t copy, reproduce, scan, print, etc. without written permission people. It’s just rude. Off my soapbox now.

So to make myself feel better and prove to myself that I do have a lick of sense (cuz believe me when I say that I wasn’t feeling like I had any after that fiasco!), I took my kids out for their first “official” school picture by Lynne Bingham Photography. And then to feel extra special, I ordered them in 16x20’s on styrene to put up in my living room. In color! For those of who you know me well, that’s a step outside the box. Hehehe. Anyway, I wisely invested in Lynne Bingham Photography and I feel better now. Colton’s other school picture will go in a keepsake box. LOL

Smash cake for Mr. Callum { Arcanum, Ohio Child Photographer }

Omigosh. Seriously, I cannot believe Mr. Callum is one year old. I can still remember taking his newborn photographs. I fondly recall how sweet and squishy his cheeks were (and as you can see….they still are!) I wanna ‘nubble’ him every single time he’s here. For those who aren’t in the know of my made up vocabulary, that’s snuggle and nibble at the same time. My kids love that. :)

He’s such a happy baby and I love taking his picture. This time was no exception. The smash cake was a hit, for a little while anyway. After that, he just wanted to tackle me and my camera. Smart little cookie, isn’t he? :)

Mom brought the curtains from his nursery to use a backdrop. She even coordinated the cake. So stinkin’ cute! Here’s a sneak peek for his parents. Enjoy!

I love this family. Really. I’m not just saying that. They’re like an extension of my own family. A lil’ crazy. A lot o’ fun. A lil’ crazy. Oh wait….I already said that. :) Hehee. Oh well….it’s true. But that’s what draws you in! I always get a work out with family sessions and this was no exception. Kids are just not into pictures as much as adults are. The funny thing is before we got started, she was staring at me and saying “Cheese!”. Yeah…and then we went for the real deal and forget it. No looks, no smiles, no nada. Ha! Senior sessions are a blast! They’re always in such a great mood, lots to smile about, optimistic about the future, and maybe it’s just that I feel like I got off the fashion train years ago (I hate being old! LOL) but uhh….hello?! Can you say awesome clothes? Wow! I’d love to be able to throw anything on and look fantabulous in it. Oh, to be young and hip again. :)

Here’s a preview of my latest senior session. Yes, this is the one whose Dad thought it was funny to say he thought he saw a snake in the grass and then throw something in that direction to make the grass move. Needless to say, it scared the bejeezus out of her and me. So not cool. At least I wasn’t the only one screaming like a little girl. Hehee.

Papa-papa-paparazzi { Dayton, Ohio Wedding Photographer }

Yes, the Lady Gaga song rings in my head every time I pull this lens out. For those of you who don’t know (and no worries….I didn’t either just a few short months ago), this is a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L II IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Camera. It’s a mouthful. And a handful. Trust me when I tell you, this is an absolutely massive lens. It weighs 5.4 lbs. and is almost the size of the wine bottle. Whoa! It probably doesn’t sound like much, but seriously…there are babies born that weigh less than this thing.

Once you add it to my 5D Mark II, grip, and 580exii speedlight (which in total is another 8lbs.), it’s like carrying a small toddler. On your face! Over 13 lbs. ON YOUR FACE. Think about that for a second. Imagine taking a 6 month old and holding it up to your face for an hour minimum. Up and down. Up and down. Now, bend and find the right angle. Or get down on the ground. Find the light. Oops, not that much light. There ya go. *Shudder* Brutal. As God as my witness, I will be able to use this lens without cramping, shaking, or tiring out in 15 minutes. Granted, I may have to start a weight lifting routine in order to do it. :) Ha!

Sometimes I get caught up in photographing clients that it slips my mind why I got into photography to begin with. I wanted to document the important things of my kids’ lives. I wanted to capture all those little moments. I wanted visual proof of their budding personalities. Sometimes, day to day life gets in the way and I forget. Then I see something and I gotta just stop what I’m doing, pick up the camera, and capture my kids being….well, kids. Silly, loud, messy kids. :) These pictures may not be technically correct, but I’ll always have mommy-goggles on so they’re perfect in my eyes.

Thumbs up! I love how Colton has to look at his hand to make sure he’s doing it right. Hehehe.

And let’s not forget his shadow, Carly. She does everything he does.

And then there’s my Keira. She marches to the beat of a different drum. But I love her just the same. :)

School Pictures are a hit! { Dayton, Ohio Children Photographer }

Here’s a preview of some of the school pictures I’ve been working on. I tell ya….some of these kids are just plain model-esque. We were never that way when I was a kid. We had ratty hair (ok….rat tails, too!), half of us had a mullet, a Madonna gap, and horrid hand-me-down clothes from our older cousins. Did I just show my age? Eek!

Mr. Man who was completely unable to NOT fake smile. Until of course, you called him out on it. Then he would smile the most gorgeous smile while he explained why he couldn’t give a genuine smile. LOL

What to wear and a FREEBIE { Dayton, Ohio Family Photographer }

I have lots of family sessions coming up. The changing of the seasons from hot to cool air compounded with the colors of the leaves is a fabulous time for family portraits. One of the most common questions I have is “What should we wear?” My first and foremost answer, avoid all one color….especially white, black, or khaki. Yawn….boring! For the love of Pete, give your portraits some LIFE! Take a moment and reflect on your family. What are their personalities? Are they carbon copies? All white T’s and jeans? Everyone black shirt and khakis? Nope. So why try to make a family portrait that way?

Everyone is different, but you compliment each other. Your clothes should mimic this concept. Find a color palette that fits the portraits you want, compliments each other, and incorporate individual personalities. Don’t forget to accessorize. Shoes, bows, jewelry. The little details are very important. Choose articles of clothing that have texture such as ruffles, denim, corduroy and mix ‘em up. Dress it up…why be all casual? When you look great, you feel great and THAT comes across in your pictures.

Even giving these tidbits are often not enough. I still get people who have no idea where to begin. So, here are some visual ideas for fall family sessions. How perfect is this? :)

Just a bit more of a preview from Matthew and Angelika’s wedding. They are such a fun-loving couple. Never a dull moment and always up for anything. I couldn’t have asked for more. I had a fantabulous time at their wedding. Here’s a few of my favorites (and that was hard to do!):

Boys will be boys. This is the groomsmen and groom before the ceremony. Classic.

Their first look was in private. Just me and them. What an emotionally charged moment.

Walking down the aisle, getting that first look at the guests, the bridal party, the ceremony.

Formals were at a different location and I’m sure everyone thought I was insane for choosing an abandoned building. But I loved the wild vines and worn down brick. It made them even more stunning.

What a whirlwind day! One I won’t soon forget. :) She was a gorgeous bride and once the dress went on, she definitely put you in mind of a Barbie Doll! And he was cool, calm, and collected unlike any groom I’ve ever met. Maybe it was the shot of vodka that my husband took him out for. LOL Of course, no wedding day goes perfectly and this one was no exception. But I have to say that I think they both handled the issues gracefully and at the end of the day, we had a gorgeous husband and wife. I feel so honored to have been a part of their special day. I wish you both nothing but happiness and love. This is just a small preview of what’s to come.

I cannot believe how fast these little boys are growing up. I met them when were just a few weeks old and they graced my kitchen table for a natural light photography newborn session. Oh so beautiful and too stinkin’ cuddly.

Today, they’re 6 months old. They’re itching to crawl, roll over, sit up, grab everything, eat anything. They weren’t too sure about me. I must be a lot to take on. :) All my friends who just read that are cracking up at the understatement. Hmmpf.

Regardless, the little men played for a bit and we got some great portraits. I got a few smiles (and a few tears, but we’re not counting those). I know for a fact that next time, they’ll remember me and I’ll get all kinds of smiles. The 9 month session is a breeze!

Trash the Dress session. Just exactly as it sounds. Take the dress (wedding, prom, etc.) and wear it again. This time wear where you wouldn’t ever expect to see it. It’s ok if it gets dirty, if it gets wet, if it gets trashed. Wear it where it’s weird or just downright taboo. Why wear it just one day if it’s that important? And for those of you haven’t had the American wedded bliss, what’s stopping you from wearing it again and looking fantabulous in it again after the divorce? Just a thought. :)

Little Miss A was full of spunk and made me eat crow. I tell parents that typically it can take up to 3 hours for a newborn session, but we will definitely hit a sleep cycle during that time. Miss A proved me wrong. She refused to cooperate with my plans and showed me who was boss! LOL I’m so glad her parents were understanding and willing to wait it out for 4 1/2 hours. It’s a good thing she’s beautiful, huh? :)

O.M.G. I had so much stinkin’ fun last night with Shannon and Rick. When planning an engagement session, it’s almost important to think about who YOU are so that your pictures match your personality, your style. Shannon put a lot of thought into this session. She knew it had to capture them, their essence, their spirit, their love. She told me that Rick was very child-like (and not in an immature way), but rather he liked to have fun. Good ol’ fashioned fun. And as you can see by the 3rd picture, he’s quite mischievous, too. :)

What better way to show that love than by going ‘way back’. Back when you played outside and had to come home when the streetlights came on. When you went to the carnival with your parents and ate so much cotton candy you got sick to your stomach. When spinning in circles just to get dizzy was the best thing since sliced bread! Bubbles, swings, sidewalk chalk, parks, and the county fair.

Oh, yes. We went there. And I LOVED it!!! Shannon and Rick…I had a BLAST and I hope you did, too. Here’s a preview of your e-session. I hope you like them. :)

Today, we went to the park with my friend Amanda and her son, Logan. Let me tell you that he has no fear. At 14 months of age, he climbed up a VERY tall slide by himself and would have slid down alone if we would have let him. Fearless! My girls and Mr. Man had a blast playing on the slide and the merry go round. I love taking them to the park. I just wish I had 8 arms in order to keep them all at bay. If I did, I’d do it by myself. But I don’t, so I won’t. I maybe crazy but I’m not insane. :)

Angelika and Matthew’s Engagement session { Dayton, OH Wedding Photographer }

My first wedding is next month….in fact, it’s only 23 days away!! Eek! I’m so stinkin’ excited and nervous all at the same time. You’d think I was the one getting married. Hehee. I’m preparing like crazy, making sure I don’t forget something (you know, like a battery!) or do something stupid (you know, like leave my ISO too high and blow all my pictures!). I just don’t wanna make mistakes. I just wanna make it perfect for Angelika and Matthew!!

So, last night we had our engagement session. Angelika and Matthew were a blast to be around! Great sense of humor, playful, good lookin’ couple and totally in love. I love seeing that. :) They made me at ease and I know it helped both of them to see me in action. Now, they know what to expect the day of!

I could not have asked for an easier family to work with. Little Miss A was a bundle of fun and loved playing dress up. Uhhh…right up my alley! We played with all my props and had a blast. Although, I wish I had pulled out the bug spray a little sooner because we were lunch for some hungry mosquitos! Baby R, however, was not impressed with me. She was a bit curious at first, but then nope….she was done. :) Once she was back in Mommy or Daddy’s arms, all was well with the world. Despite her protests, I was able to capture a few wonderful shots of her as well.

Now I work with Mandi but I have never met Jason. Apparently, Mandi didn’t tell Jason that I was a bit crazy. :) He was just a tad shy and slow to warm up. I can only imagine how nervous I would be if someone told me to attack my hubby like horny teenager all the while they’re standing there taking my picture. Hehee. My poor clients. :) He warmed up to me and we were able to get a session full of great shots.

Oh, and I absolutely ADORED her clothing choices. She really listened to my advice and chose outfits that suited her and him, showed their personalites, and brought something to the picture besides color. When I first started out, I took pictures of anything and anyone. Most times I needed things that didn’t move. Since my children wouldn’t cooperate with that requirement, I often photographed friends, family, and co-workers. And when they were annoyed, I photographed flowers. They’re pretty forgiving. They sit still. And they don’t care how many pictures you take.

With my new handy dandy 50mm f/1.2, I decided to go back to the basics and head out to my flower garden (which I have regretfully ignored for most of the summer). I only had a few minutes to play before my shoot so I took just 5 pictures. They were beautiful on their own, but couldn’t resist editing some and give them some artistic flair.

Oh yes, Lola….you are gorgeous! Sleek and sexy. Seriously stylish. Sweet and sassy. And all mine. In case you’re not in the know, this is my new camera bag. The Lola (in black) by Epiphanie. Isn’t she fantabulous?!? Water resistant, adjustable velcro panels, tons of padding, removable cross body strap, exterior and interior pockets. And the best part is the HOT PINK interior. Ooh la la!

I quickly outgrew the “bright blue and black $50 Best Buy, mesh pockets, zipper pop-top” camera bag that I bought 2 years ago. Alas, I’m frugal and a camera bag did not seem like a necessary purchase. That is, until I started collecting camera bodies and lenses. Who knew that one camera and one lens would not be enough for me? :)

I realized that I was in fact due for an upgrade. When I started researching, I knew that I needed something in a neutral color, but definitely made a statement. A camera bag that looks like a purse but is still functional? Umm, genius.

Yes, you can say it. I’m going to look very saavy at the wedding next month.

We had a great time the other evening, even after we were thrown out of our initial venue. Leave it to me to get tossed out on my tush at a photo shoot! Seriously, who does that?! LOL

Thankfully they were pretty easy going and took me at my word that downtown would be a much better fit. I just love this family. They have the look, the attitude, and all the fun. They were open to anything and it made my job easy. :) I hope they like the preview.

Oh, to be 5 years old again. No worries in the world except maybe what time your parents make you go to bed. But any other time, you can take a nap (even when you don’t want it!), you can eat Wendy’s and think you’re getting a special treat, and you can play at the park ‘til you wear out the grown-ups. And at the end of the day, you don’t have to worry about going to work or paying the bills. Just playing.

Miss T. had all the energy and spunk in the world and I am not kidding you when I tell you that she wore me out. Literally made me run up stairs to get pictures, climbing on the play yard at the park, and chasing after her just to get a smile. And did you know, I had to pull out the invisibility card?? She really made me work for it.

Miss Amey knows what she’s having but hasn’t shared the news. So, just for kicks we included the “pink” version as well as the “blue” version. It won’t be long before we all know because she’s due in just a few weeks. We could be seeing this baby bundle any time now.

She was accommodating to my every “stand up, sit down, turn this way, lean that way, etc. etc.” She said she would be surprised if all the activity didn’t put her into labor. I tell you what…if it does, it will definitely be a new angle for advertising Lynne Bingham Photography! LOL

BTW, I only wish I looked this good now let alone when I was pregnant. :)

Stunning girl. Easy-going and pretty much did whatever I asked. Mom and sister tagged along and were such a great help. I love those kinds of shoots! There was a lot of cat-calling goin’ on ‘round these parts. I’d love to say that I turned a head or two, but I’m no dummy. I Heart Faces Fix-it Friday { Dayton, Ohio Child Photographer }

I’ve recently become a fan of I Heart Faces. I have started submitting my pictures to their weekly challenges and have decided that as long as I have extra time (hahahahhaaa), I will attempt their Fix-It Friday photo editing fun. It’s always good to keep your skills in check, practice, and learn new ways to edit. You can check out other people’s edits and read how they did it. Really fun way to learn! I chose to edit it twice, once in color and once in black and white. I prefer black and white but some people really like color portraits. I’m using Photoshop CS5 Extended.

I’m waiting for the day that all three of my kids will sit still, look at the camera, and smile pretty. However, I know that I’ll tend to see the fake “cheese” smiles as well so for now, I’m content with the off-chance, ‘woohoo they’re looking at me’, and ‘I can’t believe I got that shot’ picture. I doubt I’ll ever be lucky enough to get all three in one picture unless we tie them down. Of course, that just might be worth a try. :) Here they are being themselves: ornery, dramatic, and nosey. Hehee.

For those of you who follow my blog, my work, or are just a friend of family member of mine…..then you’ll know that this chic is one of the first launching faces of Lynne Bingham Photography’s boudoir site. Carrie was gracious enough to take a chance on a new photographer and enjoyed the experience so much that she came back for more. And now that she’s in a relationship, she brought him with her. Hubba hubba.

Just a few pictures to preview what to expect with a couple’s boudoir. Don’t we all wish we were looked at this way, touched in this manner, laugh together, and adored from the side. It’s obvious in these pictures. Lucky little lady. Sensuous, seductive, sexy. Whoa!

More to come, I’m still behind in my sessions, but I wanted to get a few of these up since they have been so patient. And willing to do anything! I love those people. :)

It may not appear that they had fun, but let me tell you…..they had a blast! As you can see from the picture, it was a Japanese theme for my baby girls’ second birthday. And my thirty--ahem-mfuffmlemth birthday. :) They were full of smiles, just not when I bring out the camera. It’s the typical ‘child of a photographer’ syndrome. Anyway, I don’t have time to go through all the pictures but I had to post one of them to commemorate the day. Happy Birthday to my little girls (who are not babies, anymore…*sniff, sniff*) and Happy Birthday to me!! Now, who’s taking me to SAKE????? Hehee.

Oh, Mr. C, how I love your smile. I have been photographing Mr. C since he was born. The last two sessions, he has avoided giving me the smiles on film. Miss L always gives me a run for my money. This session was no exception. She has better things to do than sit around and look at me. Smile at me. Play with me. Or even be near me. I always get the most exercise with her. I chase her around, give up cuz I’m old and out of breath. I choose to stay far away and hope for a moment where she doesn’t realize I have a camera in hand and I’m looking at her. Bribing has little success, but sometimes I get a little something like this. Who doesn’t love a party? I thoroughly enjoy having boudoir parties at my studio. I get to play with all my toys, bring out new props when the inspiration hits, and I get in bed at a decent hour. LOL Seriously, I lurve having boudoir parties. It’s a pajama party with a twist! And most of the time, it includes wine. :)

I knew I wouldn’t be able to go to bed without a sneak peek. I get so excited after a shoot that I wanna do it all right then and there. Unfortunately, my sleep time calls and I end up listening. Eventually after a few or three pictures. :)

So, Janet won the Lynne Bingham Photography boudoir giveaway. She came over for her free session today. A bit nervous, but completely expected. Honestly, if anyone showed up and completely carefree about being butt naked in front of strangers….well, we’d have to tell them that we don’t do that type of website. :)

Anyway, Wow! That’s all I can say. Wow! First of all, who looks that way after two kids? And second of all, who looks that way period??? I mean, really!

Sometimes…you gotta get in there and get your hands all dirty. Carly has learned this at an early age. :) My poor baby. I have so many pictures of her with her finger up her nose. Oh, the boyfriends I will show those pictures to. *insert evil laugh*

Honestly, it’s a good thing. It means she’s curious enough to figure out what it is, smart enough to know it fits in her nose, and determined enough to get out anything that is stuck in there. Unfortunately, she hasn’t learned to avoid being caught on camera. :)

I love you, baby girl. Finger, nose, and all.

Playing in the sun { Dayton, Ohio Child Photographer }

I found the field that made my heart go pitter pat. Unfortunately, I didn’t get around to playing in it until yesterday. The beautiful yellow flowers had partially wilted and lost their vibrant color. It was no longer bushy golden goodness. Regardless, I put the girls in their sundresses and plopped them in the field. I had to fiddle with one before I went to bed, even though it’s after 3am. What is wrong with me??

After looking at this picture, I realized there’s nothing wrong with me. It’s just my baby girls and their gorgeous pictures that make me too giddy to go to bed. This is my sweet little Keira. Carly’s will come ~~tomorrow~~ today after some much needed sleep. Hopefully, they won’t get me up too early.

Senior Session { Dayton, Ohio Senior Portrait Photographer }

Uhm, wow. I just had one of the easiest sessions in my life. Not once did I ever have to bribe him with an M&M, promise him we’d go to Dairy Queen when we were done. I didn’t have to beg, plead, or throw a tantrum for him to look at me or follow directions. Wow! I guess they do get easier as they get older, huh? LOL

Sean was wonderful. Willing to try just about anything and followed directions to a tee. I loved his props and great idea. I thoroughly enjoyed our session. I think we got some perfect shots so I had to share a few. I hope you like them!

The biggest challenge was finding the sweet spots and using the available light. Fabulous Sean! Lots more to come so I hope you like ‘em!

Not to be outdone by his sisters, Colton wanted his picture taken. Ok, ok, I admit……I bribed him into it. But that’s neither here nor there. Hehee.

I have to tell you that he is mistaken for a girl all the time. I honestly can’t figure it out because he just LOOKS like a boy. Especially when he’s dressed in blue, brown, black, gray, etc. with surfboards, guitars, baseballs, and eagles on his shirts. I mean, seriously people…..just because he has insanely blonde curly hair doesn’t mean he’s Nelly Olsen. I just showed my age, didn’t I?

Ok, I’ve got that off my chest now. I feel better. Here’s my little man in all his glory.

I’ll add more later. Off to fix lunch for the kidlets.

Sisters: The Story { Dayton, Ohio Child Photographer }

I don’t have a sister and I must admit, I’m a bit jealous of those who do. I can only imagine how wonderful it is to have a constant confidante, a companion, and a friend while growing up. And growing old.

I enjoy watching Keira and Carly develop their relationship as they grow. I have seen it blossom into quite a friendship. They know what ticks each other off (and often push those buttons intentionally!), play together and alone, share food, and need each other for naptime and bedtime. But the most amazing thing is their unique language. It is a silent connection, an uncanny way of knowing what is going on with the other without a single word being spoken. It’s just a look, but you can literally SEE it as it happens. Wow!

I was fortunate enough to capture it on film today. Watch the story unfold.

I asked the girls to smile. They both looked at me, annoyed but both gave me a fake “cheese”.

I said “oh come on, you can do better than that!” and they looked at each other.

This was the moment. Instantly, they knew that BOTH had given me a pathetic smile and it cracked them up.

And then I got real smiles from both of them. :) I love it.

Baby Girl C Sneak Peek { Dayton, Ohio Newborn Photographer }

Oh wow. I just can’t even say anything more but wow. This little princess was a doll! Slept almost the entire time she was here, curled up nicely, posed like a lady, and smiled a few times. Of course, I missed them because they were right when I was walking towards her to reposition her. Silly girl!

And her family? I can’t say enough nice things. Miss R was so polite and well behaved. It’s time like these that make me realize I’m the only mom of a 3 year old that’s out of control. Hehehee! Dad was very sweet, gentle spoken and obviously in love with his little girls. And Leah, I do not think you’re hicks! :) That brings us to Mom….seriously? Stunning! I’m really getting tired of all these stylin’ hot post-partum mommas. :)

Baby Girl K Sneak Peek { Dayton, Ohio Newborn Photographer }

Little Miss K came to play with me today, along with her big sister, Mommy and Daddy. What a sweetie pie! She was wide awake for over 2 hours and ate about 5 times. Poor Mom and Dad were exhausted. I just knew we’d hit a sleep cycle soon if we were patient enough. Miss K fell asleep and I got about 5 minutes to capture some sleeping portraits. I wish I would have had more time with her, but I completely understood that at this stage in the game, all everyone wants is sleep. Well, everyone except Miss K. :) I hope you enjoy the sneak peek.

Perfect baby girl

I had the pleasure of playing with Miss B and her gorgeous family today. It was no wonder she was a beauty. Stunning Mommy and cutie pie Daddy. BTW, who looks that good 6 days after having a baby?? SOOOO not fair!

Anyway, Miss B wasn’t quite ready to sleep when they first arrived, so visiting was very fun! After a good meal, a nice warm blanket, and swing in mommy’s arms, she was ready to go. It didn’t take long to rock the camera. She was an angel! Highly photogenic and she initiated Daddy (not me! LOL).

I couldn’t help but take a look at them and edit a few for a sneak peek. It was such an honor to experience this moment with you. Thank you so much J & T. I hope you like them. More to come soon. :)

My mom has red hair, my grandma has red hair, my brother has red hair…..in fact, a large majority of my family has red hair. Pettiskirts, sunshine, and water

What more can a girl ask for? Your sister, maybe. But that’s about all a girl needs when you’re 2 and 3 years old. Okay, okay……maybe some raisins and other sneaky treats. But truly….that’s about it.

These little sweeties thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful weather and purple fountain. They definitely gave Mom and I a run for our money. It’s a good thing that they’re absolutely adorable in the pettiskirts.

Wow, what a night. The day was gorgeous and not a breeze in the air. After the kids went down to bed, the sky clouded over within seconds and the wind blew like a train whistle: loud and powerful. Our children’s lawn toys went flying through the neighborhood (such a sight to see). We finally retrieved everything and I was able to take a moment to capture the sky. Insane.
